How to read this list.
We do not ask for your name, your email, or your number. Nothing on this page changes based on who you are.
A door is headquartered here when its head office sits inside the county line. The rest are based elsewhere and keep a branch you can walk into. We list both, and we label which is which.
Every institution on this page comes from public federal data — the CDFI Fund certified list (Aug 2026), NCUA credit union data (Jun 2026), and the SBA microloan intermediary list (Sep 2026) — plus a short national tier we verified by hand. We refresh each list as its agency publishes. No listing is paid.
McCurtain County sits in Oklahoma's southeast corner, where banks often say no to small contractors and investors—but other doors open if you know where to knock. This guide points you to local credit unions, state-backed programs, and regional CDFIs that understand rural Oklahoma. You don't need perfect credit or a downtown office to get funded.
It's a relationship, not a transaction.
Big banks treat you like a file number. Local lenders in McCurtain County treat you like a neighbor. That difference matters. When you walk into a credit union or sit across from a CDFI loan officer, they're looking at your character, your land, your track record—not just a credit score that got dinged because a medical bill went sideways.
In a county where everyone knows someone who knows you, that relationship is your real collateral.
Banks in Oklahoma City don't care. The folks here do.

Forget what the banks say.
A bank loan officer told you no because your credit is 580 or you don't have two years of tax returns or your business is seasonal. That bank has one playbook. What they don't tell you is that credit unions, ITIN lenders, and CDFIs in Oklahoma use different playbooks entirely. They will look at bank statements, equipment you own, land value, or a personal guarantee.
Some will work with you if you're self-employed and your income is lumpy.
They don't advertise this because they're not chasing billboards—they're looking for the right fit. If a bank turned you away, assume they're just the wrong fit.

Five things. Get them in order.
- 01Know what you're borrowing for
Is it working capital (money to run the business month-to-month), equipment, a real estate down payment, or a building renovation? Different lenders prefer different purposes, and lenders see through vague requests.
- 02Gather your paper
Bank statements (six to twelve months), tax returns if you have them, and a description of what you own (truck, tools, land). You don't need a fancy business plan, but you need to explain where the money goes and how you'll pay it back.
- 03Identify your collateral
In McCurtain County, land and equipment are gold. If you own property or tools, say so.
- 04Find the right lender type for your situation (see the four doors below).
- 05Apply
Don't wait for perfect—lenders will tell you what else they need.

- ACROSS OK
Based in Texarkana, Texas. A credit union — owned by its members rather than by shareholders, which is exactly what changes the conversation after a bank has said no.
BEST FORA personal loan, or building a credit file from nothing, and buying, repairing or refinancing a home.
Don't fall into these traps.
Avoid lenders who quote interest rates over 12% without explaining why, or who ask for upfront fees before you sign anything—those are often signals of predatory lending hiding behind a new name. Don't borrow more than you can afford to repay; a loan that stretches your cash flow is a trap, not a tool. And don't skip the small-print questions: ask about prepayment penalties, balloon payments, and whether the rate is fixed or variable. If a lender won't answer, keep walking.
Legitimate lenders collect fees at closing, not before; any request for money before you sign the final loan is a red flag.
A low monthly payment that jumps to a huge lump sum at the end can force you to refinance or default when cash is tight.
If the interest rate sounds too low, ask why—and get the reason in writing; sometimes it hides prepayment penalties or higher fees elsewhere.
The rules where you are.
None of this is set by a lender. Oklahoma sets it, and it applies the same in every county in the state — which is why it is worth knowing before you knock on any of the doors above.
- BUSINESS TAX4.0%
What Oklahoma charges on top of federal. It is the first thing a lender reconciles when your numbers do not match your tax return.
- CORPORATE INCOME TAX4.0%
It depends on how the business is registered. A sole proprietor almost never pays it — worth knowing which side of that line you are on before you apply.
- SALES TAX4.5% state · 4.5% avg local
What you collect on a job, and what your materials cost. It is the gap between a bid that holds and one that does not.
- WHERE THE MONEY IS HEREOil & Gas · Aerospace & Defense · Agriculture & Cattle
Oklahoma's three biggest sectors. A local lender reads your file against them — a trade that serves these is a trade they already understand.
