Origen Capital is free to use. Nobody pays to read it, and we do not collect your information. This page explains how the site is paid for instead, because you deserve to know that before you trust anything we say.

The directory is never paid placement.

Every institution in our county directory — the CDFIs, credit unions, and SBA microloan intermediaries — comes from public federal lists published by the CDFI Fund, the NCUA, and the SBA. No institution pays to be listed, no institution pays to rank higher, and no institution can pay to be removed. Where a county has no institution, the directory says so instead of filling the space.

Some links may be referral links.

In our editorial content — the Journal, and pages that discuss specific financial products — some links may be affiliate or referral links. If you open an account or are approved for a product through one of those links, Origen Capital may receive a commission. It costs you nothing extra. The price and terms you get are the same as if you had gone directly.

What a commission never buys.

• It never changes what we write. If a product has a trap, we say so, commission or not.
• It never reorders the directory. Directory listings and referral links are separate things.
• It never turns a warning into a recommendation. Products appear in our content because they are relevant to the reader, not because they pay.

This disclosure follows the Federal Trade Commission's guidance on endorsements and material connections (16 CFR Part 255).
