That is not a gap in this page, and it is not unusual: 12 of Wyoming's 23 counties hold a door in this lane, and Weston County is not one of them. What does serve it is below, by name and by town.
The doors in Weston County.
The CDFIs, credit unions, and microlenders that actually say yes — county by county, in two languages. We are not a lender. Nobody paid to be listed. And where a county has no good doors, we say so.

How to read this list.
We do not ask for your name, your email, or your number. Nothing on this page changes based on who you are.
A door is headquartered here when its head office sits inside the county line. The rest are based elsewhere and keep a branch you can walk into. We list both, and we label which is which.
Every institution on this page comes from public federal data — the CDFI Fund certified list (Aug 2026), NCUA credit union data (Mar 2026), and the SBA microloan intermediary list (Sep 2026) — plus a short national tier we verified by hand. We refresh each list as its agency publishes. No listing is paid.
Weston County sits in northeast Wyoming, home to ranchers, contractors, and small-business owners who often get turned away by big banks. This guide points you to the actual lenders and local programs that work with your profile: ITIN numbers, seasonal income, self-employment, land or equipment collateral. Start with the SBA district office and Wyoming's community development lenders before you waste time at a chain bank.
It's a local problem, not a personal one.
You've heard 'no' from Wells Fargo or FirstBank because you don't fit their checkbox. That's not about you—it's about their rulebook. Banks in Weston County and across Wyoming are designed to move money fast for standard borrowers. If you're self-employed, have an ITIN, work seasonal ranch or energy jobs, or need to pledge land or equipment as collateral, you're not the problem.
The big lender is.
Local CDFIs, credit unions, and SBA-backed programs exist because they understand Wyoming.
They move slower but they say yes to people banks reject.

Forget what the banks say.
A bank loan officer will tell you your income is 'too irregular' or your credit isn't 'seasoned' enough or your down payment is too small. None of that closes the door everywhere.
What a bank means is: you don't match our automated system.
An SBA lender will manually review your last three years of tax returns, your equipment list, and your land. A Wyoming CDFI will look at your reputation in the county and your ability to repay. Credit unions move on relationship and character, not just the credit score. Listen to the bank's no. Then talk to the people who specialize in your situation.

Three things. Get them in order.
- 01Gather your documents before you apply anywhere
You'll need the last three years of personal tax returns, business tax returns if self-employed, proof of income (pay stubs, 1099s, bank statements), photo ID, and proof of address. Don't embellish. Lenders in Weston County talk to each other and they know the land.
- 02Start with the SBA office in Casper
They can connect you to verified lenders and tell you which programs fit your loan size and business type. It costs nothing and they're not trying to sell you anything.
- 03Once you have a lender in mind
Ask exactly what they need and in what order. No surprises later means no last-minute scrambling.

Three doors worth knowing.
The first door is the SBA District Office in Casper (serves all of Wyoming including Weston County). They don't lend themselves but they certify lenders, back loans, and have staff who understand rural Wyoming. Call them first.

Don't fall into these traps.
Trap one: Payday lenders and cash-advance outfits set up in gas stations and online. They look fast but they charge 400% annual interest and trap you in a debt cycle. Wyoming law caps rates at 28% for installment loans—use that number as your ceiling. Trap two: Broker middlemen who collect an upfront fee to 'find you a lender.' They're selling false hope. Real lenders and CDFIs work direct and don't charge you to apply. Trap three: Borrowing against your equipment or land without reading the fine print. If a lender can seize your ranch equipment or foreclose without notice, you've given up too much. Always have a lawyer or trusted accountant read the security agreement before you sign.
Lenders charging 400%+ annual interest on short-term loans trap you in debt you can't escape; Wyoming caps rates at 28% so anything higher is a red flag.
Middlemen demand cash upfront to 'connect you to lenders'—real lenders work direct and never charge you to apply or review.
Lenders who demand security agreements on all your equipment or land without clear buyback or refinance terms can seize everything if you miss one payment.
Everything below is set by Wyoming, and it reads the same in every county in it. Who opens the door is not: 3 of the 5 above will take an ITIN instead of a social security number.
The rules where you are.
None of this is set by a lender. Wyoming sets it, and it applies the same in every county in the state — which is why it is worth knowing before you knock on any of the doors above.
- STATE INCOME TAXNone
What the state takes off what you earn, before anyone works out what payment you can carry.
- SALES TAX4.0% state · 1.44% avg local
What you pay on top of every purchase. On a small loan for a repair or a tool, this is a real part of the total.
- MEDIAN HOUSEHOLD INCOME$72K
Half the households in the state earn less than this. A lot of the programs above use that number to decide who qualifies.
- COST OF LIVING95.1
National index, where 100 is the country's average. Under 100 means your money goes further here.

The short version.
- 01
