That is not a gap in this page, and it is not unusual: 11 of Wyoming's 23 counties hold a door in this lane, and Weston County is not one of them. What does serve it is below, by name and by town.
The doors in Weston County.
The CDFIs, credit unions, and microlenders that actually say yes — county by county, in two languages. We are not a lender. Nobody paid to be listed. And where a county has no good doors, we say so.

How to read this list.
We do not ask for your name, your email, or your number. Nothing on this page changes based on who you are.
A door is headquartered here when its head office sits inside the county line. The rest are based elsewhere and keep a branch you can walk into. We list both, and we label which is which.
Every institution on this page comes from public federal data — the CDFI Fund certified list (Aug 2026), NCUA credit union data (Mar 2026), and the SBA microloan intermediary list (Sep 2026) — plus a short national tier we verified by hand. We refresh each list as its agency publishes. No listing is paid.
Weston County is ranch and energy country, and your financing needs are different from what big banks assume. This guide shows you the actual doors that open for contractors, real-estate investors, and small business owners in Campbell County's neighbor—starting with local credit unions and the SBA district office, not rejection letters. You have options that don't require perfect credit or a year of tax returns.
It's a relationship, not a transaction.
In Weston County, lenders who know ranching, oil-and-gas work, and real estate development know that your income doesn't fit a W-2 mold. A transaction-only bank will ask for three years of tax returns and deny you. A relationship lender—a credit union, a CDFI, a community bank—will sit down and ask what you're actually building. They understand that ranch income, contractor revenue, and land deals follow seasonal and project patterns.
Your job is to pick lenders who have lent in your county before, not national algorithms.
Local always wins.

Forget what the national banks say.
Big banks rejected you for a reason, and that reason probably was not that you're a bad risk—it was that you don't fit their spreadsheet. Self-employed? Non-traditional income? ITIN instead of SSN?
Those are not deal-killers; they're just red flags to lenders who've never left their regional office.
The SBA, Wyoming's state programs, and community CDFIs exist because the national banks left money on the table. They're not charity; they're business. And they lend in Weston County. Don't assume 'no' means no; it means 'not from them.'

Four things. Get them in order.
- 01Understand what you're financing
A piece of equipment, a property, a business expansion, or working capital to bridge a seasonal gap? Different lenders care about different things. Equipment lenders will take the machine as collateral; real-estate lenders will take the land.
- 02Collect your real numbers
Not fancy projections, but actual revenue from the last two years, whether it's 1099 income, K-1 shares, or cash-flow statements from your operation.
- 03Find out if you qualify for SBA backing (it makes a huge difference to lenders who are nervous about you).
- 04Talk to at least two lenders in person
Not by phone. Relationship starts with showing up.

Four doors worth knowing.
Your lenders are here: (1) The SBA district office in Cheyenne covers all of Wyoming and will help you understand your SBA loan options, which can mean a 10-year term and lower down payment than a bank ever gives.

Don't fall into these traps.
Watch for: (1) Lenders who push you to a broker or intermediary instead of talking to an underwriter directly—you'll pay unnecessary fees and lose control of your application. (2) Loans with prepayment penalties that lock you in for the full term, meaning you can't refinance if rates drop or you want to sell early. (3) Anything that sounds like quick cash with minimal paperwork—that's almost always a short-term trap with rates that will cripple you. In Weston County, where business is often seasonal, you need flexibility and honesty, not speed and fine print.
A broker charges you 1–3% to 'shop' your loan, then a lender charges origination fees on top; you're paying twice for the same work.
You can't refinance or pay off early without a penalty, locking you into a bad rate even if your situation improves.
High-rate 'business lines of credit' that feel like quick cash but cost 18–36% annual interest and are designed for you to refinance over and over.
Everything below is set by Wyoming, and it reads the same in every county in it. Who opens the door is not: 3 of the 5 above will take an ITIN instead of a social security number.
The rules where you are.
None of this is set by a lender. Wyoming sets it, and it applies the same in every county in the state — which is why it is worth knowing before you knock on any of the doors above.
- BUSINESS TAXNone
What Wyoming charges on top of federal. It is the first thing a lender reconciles when your numbers do not match your tax return.
- CORPORATE INCOME TAXNone
It depends on how the business is registered. A sole proprietor almost never pays it — worth knowing which side of that line you are on before you apply.
- SALES TAX4.0% state · 1.44% avg local
What you collect on a job, and what your materials cost. It is the gap between a bid that holds and one that does not.
- WHERE THE MONEY IS HEREOil, Gas & Coal · Tourism & National Parks · Ranching & Agriculture
Wyoming's three biggest sectors. A local lender reads your file against them — a trade that serves these is a trade they already understand.
