How to read this list.
We do not ask for your name, your email, or your number. Nothing on this page changes based on who you are.
A door is headquartered here when its head office sits inside the county line. The rest are based elsewhere and keep a branch you can walk into. We list both, and we label which is which.
Every institution on this page comes from public federal data — the CDFI Fund certified list (Aug 2026), NCUA credit union data (Jun 2026), and the SBA microloan intermediary list (Sep 2026) — plus a short national tier we verified by hand. We refresh each list as its agency publishes. No listing is paid.
Palm Beach County runs on trades, construction, landscaping, hospitality, and farming — work that pays in bursts and rarely matches a bank's idea of steady income. This guide explains the kinds of business financing that actually reach small contractors and shop owners here, who tends to qualify, which papers to gather before you ask, and which lenders in our directory are based inside the county line versus which serve it from somewhere else. It also covers Florida registration basics and the traps that hit cash-heavy trades hardest. No forms, no pitch, nothing to sign.
It's a process, not a rejection.
Business financing is money you borrow to start, run, or grow a business. It comes in a few plain shapes: a term loan you repay in fixed payments, a line of credit you draw on and pay back as work comes in, a microloan for smaller amounts when you are new or your credit is thin, equipment financing tied to the machine or truck itself, and occasionally a grant you do not repay.
This county is a long strip with two very different economies inside one line. Along the coast, from Boca Raton up through West Palm Beach and Jupiter, the money moves through building and maintaining property: remodels, roofing, pool and irrigation work, landscaping and tree crews, air conditioning, painting, cleaning contracts, marine and boatyard trades, and the restaurants and shops that fill up when the winter season arrives.
Out west, in the farm towns near Lake Okeechobee, it moves through sugarcane, winter vegetables, sod, packing houses, hauling, and the equipment repair those operations depend on.
Both economies share one habit that shapes financing: the work arrives in waves. Season fills your calendar and summer empties it. A lender who understands that will look at a full year of your deposits instead of last month's.
A lender who does not will call your business unstable and price it that way.
Part of the job of choosing a door is finding one that already knows how this county earns.

Forget what the banks say.
Every lender is asking the same four questions in its own language: can you repay, have you handled credit before, how long have you been doing this, and does the plan make sense for this market. Nobody is asking you to be impressive. They are asking you to be predictable.
People who get approved in this county usually look like one of these:
- A licensed or registered trade contractor with a couple of years of invoices — roofing, AC, electrical, stucco, flooring, irrigation
- A landscaping or tree crew ready to buy a second truck, a trailer, or a chipper
- A cleaning, pool service, or maintenance business with recurring monthly accounts
- A restaurant, bakery, market, or food truck with steady card and cash deposits
- A farm labor contractor, hauler, or equipment repair shop serving the western growing areas
- A home health aide or child care provider turning steady private clients into a registered business
Two things matter more than perfection. First, the shape of your income: if you are paid on 1099s, by subcontract, or in cash, your bank deposits become your proof, so run business money through a business account and stop mixing it with household money.
Second, your status is not automatically a wall.
If you file taxes with an ITIN rather than a Social Security number, there are lenders in the national tier below built specifically for you, and it is a fair question to ask any institution directly.

Get your papers in order.
Nothing kills momentum like being asked for a paper you do not have. Most of this list is reusable, so build the folder once and keep it current.
- 01Government photo ID
Driver license, passport, or consular ID
- 02Your ITIN or Social Security number
- 03Fictitious name (DBA) registration or your LLC or corporation filing
- 04Your state and county trade or contractor license, if your work requires one
- 05Federal tax returns for the last two years, personal and business
- 06Three to six months of business bank statements
Twelve if your work is seasonal, because a full year tells your story better than a slow month does
- 07A profit-and-loss summary, even one you typed yourself
- 08Open invoices
Signed contracts, or a customer list showing work already committed
- 09List of equipment and vehicles
With titles, if you are offering collateral
- 10One-page description of the business
What you do, who pays you, and how the loan gets repaid

The doors worth knowing.
Some real institutions are headquartered inside this county line, which is more than most counties in America can say. Start with the mission-driven ones, because they are built for borrowers a big bank turns down.

BEST FORWorking capital, equipment and payroll for a small business, and a personal loan, or building a credit file from nothing.Based in Palm Springs, Florida. A credit union — owned by its members rather than by shareholders, which is exactly what changes the conversation after a bank has said no.
BEST FORA personal loan, or building a credit file from nothing, and buying, repairing or refinancing a home.
Don't fall into these traps.
This county has a large population of self-employed tradespeople with real revenue and no time to read contracts. That combination attracts expensive money.
Not loans. Someone buys a slice of your future card and bank deposits at a discount and debits your account daily or weekly. The cost is brutal, and the daily debits do the most damage in the slow season, exactly when you can least afford them. Treat this as the last door, not the first.
If someone shops your file to a dozen funders, you get a dozen credit pulls, a stack of offers you cannot compare, and a fee baked into the deal. Ask directly: are you the lender, or are you paid a commission by the lender?
A real lender takes closing costs out of the funding, not a wire from you in advance.
Some advance contracts let the funder freeze accounts or claim equipment fast. Know what you pledged.
Offers that expire tonight are a sales tactic, not a rate. Anyone who will not let you take the contract home for a day has told you what they are.
Both are red flags every time, and neither is legal in the way it is being sold to you.
Everything below is set by Florida, and it reads the same in every county in it. The 12 marks above are this county's own doors — who opens one is decided by them, not by the state.
The rules where you are.
A few state rules decide whether your paperwork is ready or not.
If you do business under a name that is not your own legal name, Florida expects that fictitious name registered with the state's division of corporations. LLCs and corporations register there too and must file an annual report to stay active — an expired registration is one of the fastest ways to get an application shelved.
If you sell goods or certain services, you register with the state department of revenue to collect and remit sales tax. Lenders ask for those returns because they confirm real revenue better than anything you tell them.
Construction is licensed on two levels here. Some trades are certified by the state; others are licensed locally through county construction industry licensing, and using an unlicensed helper on a permitted job puts your own license at risk. Florida also requires workers' compensation coverage in construction at a much lower employee count than in other industries, and your certificate of insurance will be requested by general contractors and lenders alike.
On the state programs side, Florida runs economic-development and small-business support initiatives through its commerce and economic development agencies, and the county and its municipalities periodically offer small-business grant or facade programs. Those come and go, so ask the county's economic development office and your city hall what is open now rather than trusting a year-old web page.
The short version.
- 01
If you run a trade, a shop, a crew, or a truck in Palm Beach County, you have real options — and better ones than most people in this county realize, because several mission lenders and credit unions are headquartered right here.
- 02
The order that works: get a business bank account and run everything through it, gather the folder of documents above, then talk to a community development lender or a local credit union before you answer an ad. Ask every institution two direct questions — do you lend to ITIN filers, and will this loan be reported to the credit bureaus so it builds my file. Compare at least two real offers side by side, looking at the total amount you repay rather than the payment size.
- 03
You do not need perfect credit, a long history, or a Social Security number to start the conversation. You need proof of how you earn and a plan that makes sense out loud.
