The doors in Quitman County.
The CDFIs, credit unions, and microlenders that actually say yes — county by county, in two languages. We are not a lender. Nobody paid to be listed. And where a county has no good doors, we say so.

How to read this list.
We do not ask for your name, your email, or your number. Nothing on this page changes based on who you are.
A door is headquartered here when its head office sits inside the county line. The rest are based elsewhere and keep a branch you can walk into. We list both, and we label which is which.
Every institution on this page comes from public federal data — the CDFI Fund certified list (Aug 2026), NCUA credit union data (Mar 2026), and the SBA microloan intermediary list (Sep 2026) — plus a short national tier we verified by hand. We refresh each list as its agency publishes. No listing is paid.
Quitman County is rural, and banks often say no. But there are lenders who understand your situation—local credit unions, community development finance institutions, and SBA-backed programs that work with contractors and real-estate investors. This guide shows you the doors that actually open in your county and surrounding areas.
It's a bridge, not a rejection.
When a bank turns you down, that's not the end of the road. It's a sign you need a different kind of lender. The local credit union, the CDFI, the SBA district office—they exist because banks say no to people like you. That doesn't mean you're not creditworthy. It means the bank's computer says no.
A real lender looks at your character, your track record, your plan.
You are not a number. In Quitman County, the intermediary layer—the local players—know the region. They know contractors. They know small investors. They know drought years and good years. They will sit down and listen.

Forget what the banks say.
Banks reject people because speed and automation make money. They sell loans to investors in bundles, so they need your credit score to fit a model. Quitman County banks are often branches of larger institutions; the decision happens three states away.
A local credit union or CDFI makes decisions locally.
They care about your business because you're a neighbor. They will ask questions a bank's form never asks: Do you have a solid reputation? Can you show us how you plan to repay? Do you have collateral or a co-signer? They may bend on credit score because they know your character. That's not a weakness in their underwriting—that's strength.

Four things. Get them in order.
- 01Know your credit score and what it actually means.
Pull your report for free at annualcreditreport.com. Do not pay for it. Understand that FICO is one story; your SBA lender or credit union will look at payment history and character too.
- 02
Gather your last two years of business or personal tax returns, bank statements, and a simple one-page plan for what you're borrowing for. Write it plainly—no jargon.
- 03Identify the right lender type
If you're building a house or buying property, look at SBA 504 or 7(a) loans. If you need working capital fast, a credit union or CDFI may move quicker. If you're ITIN, find ITIN-friendly lenders now—don't wait until you're desperate.
- 04Call and talk to a human before applying
Ask if they've worked with contractors or small investors like you. Ask what documents they actually need. A lender that welcomes your call is a lender worth trying.

Four doors worth knowing.
Learn about each one, then call or visit in person.

Don't fall into these traps.
Three types of financing are not actually financing—they're debt traps. Recognize them and walk away. First, predatory lenders mask themselves as 'quick cash' or 'merchant cash advances.' You give them a percentage of your future income. The interest is effectively 100% to 300% per year. They target people rejected by banks. Second, loan brokers who charge 'application' or 'processing' fees upfront. Legitimate lenders do not ask for money before they fund. If someone asks for $500 to 'submit your application,' they are stealing. Third, anyone offering a 'guarantor' scheme or promising to 'fix your credit' for an upfront fee. That is fraud. Your credit improves by paying bills on time. No one can delete accurate negative information, and no service can guarantee a loan. When in doubt, ask the lender directly: 'Do I pay anything before you fund?' If yes, hang up and call the next one.
A lender offers you cash in exchange for a cut of your daily credit card sales; the effective interest rate is 100%+ per year, and you're trapped if business slows.
A broker or 'loan specialist' asks for an application or processing fee before they fund; legitimate lenders never charge money upfront.
Someone promises to erase bad credit or 'fix' your report for a fee; no company can legally remove accurate negative information from your credit file.
The rules where you are.
None of this is set by a lender. Georgia sets it, and it applies the same in every county in the state — which is why it is worth knowing before you knock on any of the doors above.
- STATE INCOME TAX1.0% – 5.39%
What the state takes off what you earn, before anyone works out what payment you can carry.
- SALES TAX4.0% state · 3.4% avg local
What you pay on top of every purchase. On a small loan for a repair or a tool, this is a real part of the total.
- MEDIAN HOUSEHOLD INCOME$71K
Half the households in the state earn less than this. A lot of the programs above use that number to decide who qualifies.
- COST OF LIVING91.3
National index, where 100 is the country's average. Under 100 means your money goes further here.
